Minecraft creator Mojang plans a spin-off game

Minecraft maker Mojang is planning a spin-off game that is based on its wildly popular block-building game.

It is named Minecraft: Story Mode and will be an episodic video game that takes place in the familiar Minecraft world however it introduces new characters to the world.

Telltale Games, which has previously produced many episodic titles and is now developing the game.

The first episode will be available on consoles, PCs , and Macs in 2015, and also on Android devices.

It is unclear what the game will be like. Mojang has produced a short game for browsers called Info Quest II to explain what it might be like.

It sought to reassure players that Story Mode would not be like the bloody and violent games Telltale has produced before now. Recent Telltale games include The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands and games that are based on Game of Thrones and zombie thriller The Walking Dead.

"Telltale's game will be similar in the way it plays to Minecraft itself," said Mojang, "though it's a completely original and unique take on our game." Dhaka courier

Mojang has released a new version of its Scrolls card-based game of magic fighting. Soon after the announcement of Story Mode is out.
