Jason Momoa In Talks To Star In Upcoming Minecraft Movie

Jason Momoa is in final negotiations to star in Warner Bros. live-action Minecraft film, the studio confirmed Tuesday.



Jared Hess, who also directed Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite, will direct the movie, which is based in part on the 2011 videogame. Momoa also starred in the Warner Bros. movies Aquaman and Dune. The Minecraft news was previously reported by The Hollywood Reporter.



Warner Bros. revealed the existence of a Minecraft movie eight years ago. Minecraft In 2020, a release date of March 4, 2022, was pushed back indefinitely because of the pandemic and has yet to be updated.



Minecraft, one the most successful games of all time allows players to explore 3D environments where they can create items, extract materials and build structures. The live-action film joins a host of other videogame-based movies like Uncharted, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Mortal Kombat 2021. Minecraft



Among the film's producers are Lydia Winters and Vu Bui of Minecraft developer Mojang Studios. Minecraft Roy Lee and Mary Parent also produce, while Jill Messick who worked on this film before her death in 2018 will receive a posthumous producer credit. Cale Boyter and Jon Spaihts are the film's executive producers. Jon Berg is also a producer.
