Naturism news
Sheposted her thoughts on her website.
And then there is this thoughtful review by the Naked Weatherman blogger, who also volunteers with British Naturism. Both of them discuss what James calls a "worn-out rendering" of a naturist club as a decaying retirement home that is old in the 21st century. Nude Weatherman focuses on how BN is not doing enough revive naturism, and clubs are not being honest about what they actually need.
Naked News Stories
- Sixteen things I learned at the naked German watering place- This is a cute, tongue-in-cheek list from a newbie perspective. The only thing that is a bit away is #9. This can be a familiar misconception about naturism that Nudie Lee once covered. For the most part, social nudity or a nude spa isn't going to cause a decline in one's sex life that leads to a demand for more kink. It's much more likely that Germans simply do not have as many hang-ups about expressing their sexual desires.
Body Image
- Ragen Chastain runs a great blog called "Dances With Fat." In a recent post, she addresses body discontent and being nude. An excerpt:
We have all been force-fed an individual thought of what a beautiful naked body is and that idea is a complete and absolute lie, and we don't have to continue to consider it.
There will be folks who, for whatever motive, cannot appreciate your exceptional beauty be you clothed or nude. That is their problem, not yours. It does not make you any less wonderful, it only makes them unworthy of you.
- BuzzFeed posted a review of the most infamous body shaming instants of 2014. It ain't pretty, but what's good is the backlash that erupted after many of them. Folks are not bearing this sort of drivel anymore. Here's to a more body positive 2015!
Censorship
- As mentioned not only practice arbitrary censorship, but WOn't recognize certain kinds of artwork if it's nudity, or components of sexuality or eroticism in it. For instance, Facebook formally enables nude paintings but not unclothed photography (watch out if your painting looks like a photo). Chet Kresniak (Nudiarist) had his nude paintings FB page taken down at least 5 times. (He eventually gave up on having the page.) So how do artists deal with this? They also have to re-create reports, plus some are on the 5th or 6th Instagram report. Such patience for a platform that stifles creative expression.
- Many social networks in a preceding NNR, artist Megumi Igarashi was detained again on obscenity charges earlier this month. Now she's been indicted on these charges and was put in detention for fear she'd destroy evidence. Ouch. Her attorneys will continue to plead not guilty. Japan has crazy obscenity laws that boost body phobia. Japanese porn can't even reveal any genitals (it's pretty bizarre). [Japan Times]
"It is so scary when there's no nuance, where the nude form of the body is treated as pornography. That, in my experience, feels frightening and unsophisticated. I think that we can draw lines between what's porn and what exactly isn't. http://purenudism2017.com 's as if these platforms do not need to make moral judgments about what's good or bad, what's porn or not pornbut they certainly do make these judgments. When they censor female pubic hair or select never to take down hate speech, those are moral judgments."
See
- Is it alright to be nude facing the kids? And if that's the case, at what age does it cease being okay? That is plenty of articles, blog posts and pros addressing these questions. The response is really quite easy, and here's one post that sums it up. But expected to America's pedophilia paranoia and attachment to body disgrace, this becomes a divisive issue. Blogger Rita Templeton wrote a fantastic blog post, "Why I want my sons to see me nude," and her HuffPost Live mp4 interview is embedded in the aforementioned article.
You are able to watch it live or stream it after.
You'll be able to see my previous HuffPost Live section about growing up as a naturist on our FKK in the News page.
- We made a fresh clip about NYC Body Painting Day!
Oldie But Goodies
- Since we are on the subject of children and parental nudity, here's an article by Mark Storey that offers an extensive overview of studies and literature about it. We also provide an post on our site reviewing the pertinent research studies.
